RETAIL EYE - TRENDS IN RETAIL AND POS

Every month we capture what is happening in retail – understanding key themes and trends for POS.  This snapshot guide helps to bring the high street to your desk monthly.

FOOTFALL

According to British Retail Consortium (BRC) -Sensormatic data, total UK footfall increased by 7.2% in April (YoY), up from -5.4% in March. Sales increased due to a later Easter and a boost from sunny weather, encouraging shoppers to go out. Taking March and April together, compared with the same two months in 2024 (to cancel out any impact of Easter), total UK footfall increased by 0.2%.*

EASTER

86% of Brits planned to celebrate Easter in 2025 and were projected to spend approximately £1.5 billion, with an average spend of £37 each.** Seven in ten UK consumers purchased gifts for Easter in 2024 and approximately 80 million Easter eggs are sold in the UK each year.**
