FOOTFALL
According to data from the British Retail Consortium and Sensormatic, UK footfall fell 4.7% year on year in February. This is a significant drop compared with the 0.6% decline reported in January. One of the wettest February’s on record discouraged shoppers from visiting retail destinations.
VALENTINE’S DAY
Research by Parcelhero showed that Brits were predicted to spend £2.38 billion on Valentine’s Day, a 7% increase on last year. The research also highlighted that Brits are expected to send 25 million cards, 22 million gifts and four million bouquets. £85 million is forecast to be spent on sweets and confectionery alone.
