RETAIL EYE - TRENDS IN RETAIL AND POS

FOOTFALL

According to BRC-Sensormatic, total UK footfall fell 2.6% year on year from 3 to 30 May. However, this was up from the 10.7% drop reported in April. BRC-Sensormatic also reported that whilst better weather in the month initially encouraged shoppers, the record-breaking temperatures at the end of the month led to a sharp fall in footfall, particularly at shopping centres and retail parks.

SUMMER

The unusually warm weather helped early summer campaigns feel more relevant, encouraging shoppers to engage with seasonal products and make the most of the sunshine.
